How an off-grid system works
During the day the panels power your loads and charge the batteries through the inverter's built-in MPPT charge controller. After sunset, the batteries supply everything. Because there is no grid to fall back on, the system must be sized carefully for your daily units and for cloudy days.
- Solar panels
- Off-grid inverter with MPPT charger (e.g. Growatt SPF series)
- Battery bank (lithium or tubular)
- Breakers, SPDs and earthing
- Optional generator input
Sizing an off-grid system
We start from your daily energy use in units (kWh), add a margin for winter and cloudy days, then size the panels to refill the batteries in a day of sun. Our load calculator gives you a first estimate in minutes.
Farms and tube wells
For agricultural pumping, a solar pump drive or VFD system can run tube wells directly from panels during daylight, often with no batteries. Tell us your pump size (HP) and water depth and we will design it.
Frequently asked questions
Off-grid solar system kya hota hai?
Off-grid system grid se bilkul alag hota hai. Panels din mein batteries charge karte hain aur batteries din raat ghar chalati hain. Yeh un jagahon ke liye hai jahan bijli nahi ya bohat kam aati hai.
Can an off-grid system work without batteries?
Only for loads that run during sunlight, such as solar water pumps. For power at night you need batteries.
How many batteries do I need?
It depends on your night-time load and how many hours you need. Use our load calculator for an estimate, then we size the bank exactly after a survey.
